January 30th, 2012When you go anywhere on Disney property these days you will see the Vinylmation figures for sale. Around Christmas I saw a character that I thought would be a great “model”. Unfortunately they didn’t have anything from that series of figures in stock. This weekend I finally found a store that was fully stocked up…unfortunately this particular series is only sold in a “blind box“.
In other words…I didn’t get the figure I was looking for. In fact out of the dozen or so characters in this series this is one of the two that don’t “work” for me, but there is some good news. There are several stores around Disney property where you can trade your figure for whatever they have available for trade. I checked out a few places yesterday, but didn’t find anything that inspired me. Tonight the lack of inspiration led to inspiration…stay tuned for “The Parade of Trades”.

January 29th, 2012I love watching the gibbons at Animal Kingdom, but I can only take so much of the parents telling their kids “look at those monkeys”. People really should know the difference between monkeys and apes…seriously.

January 4th, 2012Today I was having a discussion with a friend about art. She was telling about a guy named Duchamp…he has a some pieces that he called “Readymades”. In particular we talked about Prelude to a Broken Arm, it’s a snow shovel…that’s it just a snow shovel. I am someone who can truly appreciate the mundane as art, but I think putting a shovel in a museum and calling it art is kind of phoning it in.
So on the subject of “art” from the mundane, here is the landing gear from a 52 bomber…
