I was recently going through a box of old pictures and decided to scan a few of them to put in my gallery. I think some of them are decent pictures, but I can certainly see how much I have improved. One thing that is nice about getting the pictures into the computer is that I can tweak them a bit with Photoshop. For the most it was nothing major, but a couple of them I did convert from color to B&W.

There is a guy on this photography website that regularly posts “assignments”. It is a sort of loose class type thing. He gives out assignments and anyone that wants to play goes and takes pictures based on the criteria he laid out. The “students” then upload their entries and the “teacher” provides feedback. This week the assignment was “the strike of a match”. Taking a picture of a match is not something I ever would have thought to do, but I am really really like the what I was able to come up with.

Oh yeah the teacher liked it too.

This is not the picture that I was trying to take. In fact it was a complete accident. I was moving the light around trying different stuff to get the picture I was looking for. At some point I stopped and look through the shots I had already taken and realized this one was way more interesting than what I was going for.
