July 23rd, 2009Playing around with another filter in my iPhone camera bag…this one is meant to look like an image from a Lomo

Helgamaters
July 16th, 2009Sorry…I checked out for a bit, I am not sure I am fully checked back in, but I have something “fun” I wanted to post. There is a type of photography called lo-fi. The way I see it, the idea is to worry about the content of the shot and not so much about the technical aspects. The people shooting lo-fi are for the most part using film cameras. (I imagine some would say that you can only shoot lo-fi on film.) Anyway one popular lo-fi camera is a Holga. It is essentially a toy camera, but it has a very distinct style. So a couple weeks ago I picked one up…sort of. See I didn’t actually go out and get a new camera…I really have no desire whatsoever to deal with film. What I did go out and get is a new iPhone app. The app has several “filters” that apply styles to the image. One of the styles is Holga Helga.

Spice Rice
July 5th, 2009Today we were over in the fancy part of town and noticed a shop selling spice and tea. Once inside we found out they also have fancy rice and fancy salt. It is a very nice little shop, so if you like spice and stuff you might want to check them out. I grabbed this pic of the rice with the iPhone*.

*Yes, I am totally using this is an excuse for the “poor” quality.
Fireworks
July 4th, 2009Everybody that takes pictures has shot something that doesn’t come out the way you expected. Maybe it is out of focus, too dark or even both…but there are the rare occasions where those mistakes make for something interesting. This shot is out of focus…way out of focus, but it might be the most interesting firework picture I have ever taken.
