All Stars

January 11th, 2010

Yesterday I got a new pair of shoes, and I started thinking about how I could shoot them. One of my ideas was a close up on the toe area…then this morning I am checking out a photography forum and I see a picture that was almost exactly what I was thinking. So now what do I do…if I shoot the shot in my head am copying the other pic? Oh well I tried a few of my other ideas, but this one worked the best…

Concentrated

The big news in Florida this past week or so is the weather. We have had a week of freezing temps…literally. Not only am I tired of my toes being cold, but this is kind of a big deal for the citrus growers. It isn’t so good for the fruit to freeze, so the growers do stuff to try to protect their crops. One of those things is turning on sprinklers…seems counter intuitive, but I guess it works.

Two Creams

January 7th, 2010

On occasion someone will ask me if I can take a particular picture. A few weeks ago a friend of mine asked me “can you take a picture of coffee after the cream is poured in?” I said “sure, but you have to wait till after Christmas”…well it is after Christmas, so here it is.

When my kid was little she always called Spaceship Earth the golf ball, but when she said golf it sounded like “gulf”.

I figured out a great way for me to shoot landscapes…it is just a bit too expensive…

Pearls

January 3rd, 2010

My daughter is a bit of a Japanophile, she is even teaching herself Japanese, so when we go to Epcot we end up spending quite a bit of time at the Japanese pavilion. In other words I spend quite a bit of time waiting…on this visit it was a bit chilly outside so I decided to see if I could find any interesting “street” pictures inside the store. I was pretty quickly drawn to the “oyster bar” area, where people buy an oyster that is then opened to harvest the pearl. In this shot I think she is presenting the pearl to the crowd that is gathered around to watch the “show”.

Noodle Bowl

January 2nd, 2010

I stopped into Old Time Pottery today to see if they had anything interesting. I ended up finding a couple of bowls that I really liked. Pictures of empty bowls are pretty boring…so what to put in the bowl? I decided to make something that would taste as good as it looks…
